Blow Up Dolls as Fashion

blowupdollA friend of mine sent along this link to an artist who turns blow up dolls into jackets, which reminded me of an odd thing that happened to me a few years ago.

I was working for a company that sold sex toys online at the time and customer service received an email from a gentleman in Germany who wanted to know if we had any blow up dolls that would be large enough for him to cut open and wear as a costume. He sent along some links explaining the fetish (which is apparently referred to as rubberdolling).

I really wanted to help this customer, I called a bunch of blow up doll manufacturers and was either met with confused silence or told that dolls are supposed to be the same size as women and finding one that’s 5’10” would be nearly impossible.

In the end, I found the tallest doll I could (5’7″ or so) and suggested that perhaps he could pick up a rubber patching kit like the ones you might use to fix a tire. I have no idea whether it worked out for him (he never wrote back), but I certainly hope so. I bet he’d love one of those jackets…

what you are saying here is new to me,but that’s ok. It’s just nice to have you back here where you belong.
Hadn’t heard anything from you or Rope since the upgrade, and it is good to see a familiar face again

HotScooter2 – You learn something new everyday 🙂 I hope the dust has settled enough with the upgrade that I’ll be able to go back to a normal schedule.

And now that I just posted my very first comment for Josh, let me use this opportunity and say hi to our beautiful lady. Welcome back Alison, you have a lot of invisible fans around here. I was kind of spying on you, tracking your comments on Darrahs’ 😉

Does the price of premium blow up dolls differ from the price of basic blow up dolls?

Hi Alison, wonderful to see you. Blow up dolls scare me. You know how some people have issues with clowns? I don’t mind clowns, but those dolls make me nervous. I may have to pen a letter to “Ask Alison” in hopes of finding a remedy for my anxiety.

    WB Allison.
Rubberdollism is what your customer was into. And I suppose they are looking to attract someone who’s into agalmatophilia.
Did you ever see the CSI episode where they had Plushies? People who liked to get dressed up in animal suits and have sex (scruffing and yiffing). It was called plushophilia. And I thought that was just fictional until I met someone into it…
Me – I just like to learn about odd fetishes (but not participate). There’s probably a name for that, too.

  7. alison Says:

Shahram – Thank you kindly. You’re making me blush 🙂

doppyman – Yeah, they can get into the multiple hundreds of dollars. Usually because they have “real” feel orifices and vibrators and so on. The thing about those expensive ones is they try to make “realistic” faces as well and the results are often frightening (see example).

ropeadope – Nice to see you too. I’m very sorry about your doll anxiety and would be happy to provide any counsel you need 🙂 I do not recommend clicking the link I posted for doppyman!

drawstroke – Thanks. I sure did see that episode of CSI (I don’t usually watch that show, but when I heard they were doing that episode, I made sure to tune in). MTV did a special about it too. I guess I’m kinda like you – endlessly fascinated with odd fetishes, but not really into them.

Does anyone make male blowup dolls? My girlfriend wants a Lee Stone one.

  9. HotScooter2 Says:

girl i gotta get a pic of you blushing.loved listening to you giggle like a schoolgirl in your interview with Jada. i will probably stop having irresistible urge to make women blush.
since living in Dixie i have picked up southern ways and one of them is flirting.
Anyhow you are like a friend to many of us and the blogs would not be same without you. Rope may be funnier but you are definitely cuter

  10. ropeadope Says:

    HotScooter2 – Who says I’m not cute?

  11. HotScooter2 Says:

aw shucks, i think i hurt your feelings. never said you weren’t cute just that Alison is cuter.

  12. alison Says:

doppyman – Hahaha Yeah, you can find them, but they’re usually of gay porn stars.

    HotScooter2 – I’ll work on being funnier 😉

rope – That picture made me “aww” out loud 🙂

Welcome back into the blog fold again! I never heard of rubberdolling before so I am clearly out of the loop.
I have to say though that the jacket looked much better than I thought. I’d wear it possibly but only to very selected events like not to grandma’s. :p
