Friday is Alison Day

After two great years with VideoBox, I’m writing to announce that my role at the company has changed. I’ve left my position as marketing manager, but will be staying on as a contributor to this blog. I prematurely announced my departure from the blog earlier today, but I’m very very happy to announce that it was the result of a misunderstanding and I’m not going anywhere.

So look for my posts every Friday. And don’t forget to check back during the week for new content from Josh and the rest of the VideoBox crew.

  2. alison Says:

fatrush – Thanks. I think :) And I was thinking I might do “best of” finisher lists once a month. How’s that sound?

  3. ropeadope Says:

Not to worry, Alison. I’m sure all within the membership have been premature at one time or another.

Having read the original blog entry, this news comes as a great relief. But those who missed the initial article will be upset by the once a week posting format. I’m just elated to learn you’ll be continuing with the blog. I’ll repeat what I said earlier. You’ve done an outstanding job with the blog. Your articles, interviews, and polls are both illuminating and entertaining. When I navigate to VideoBox, the blog is always my first stop. Even prior to checking the latest video updates. Thank you for all of your wonderful contributions over the past eighteen months. I’m looking forward to much more of the same over the next eighteen years (at least).

  4. alison Says:

rope – LOL. Thanks so much. I’m really happy to be staying on and you’re making me blush with all the praise. Stop that! :)

To the other folks to commented on the original post (Matt H., disenfranchised, garbman, flblasted, and of course HotScooter2) – I want to thank you for your kind words. Even though the post was removed, I still got to read them and I really appreciate all the support. I’m really lucky to write for such awesome people and I’m so glad I get to stick around and keep on doing it.

Alison, I always look forward to clicking on the ‘blog’ link, primarily because I love your posts.

I’m very glad to hear that you’ll be staying on as a blogger. Also, best wishes to you in your new role, wherever and whenever it might be. You’re clearly super-talented, and I’m sure you’ll be a success.

  9. Breadwinner Says:

Alison, I too want to echo what all here have been saying. The blog was actually the first thing I go to when I log on to VB. Your articles and polls were entertaining and your questions were engaging and frequently humorous. Thank you. Now, you mentioned that you were staying on with the blog but leaving as marketing manager. What will be your new role at VB? Just curious, but best of luck either way!

  10. alison Says:

HotScooter2 – Thanks, hon. I’m not planning on going anywhere so I’ll take that cyberhug now, thank you.

    rutnadexin3 – Thanks!

Bronty – Thank you very much.

Breadwinner – Thanks. Going forward my role at VB will consist only of blog posts. Since it was my favorite part of my job anyway, I’m just fine with that.

  11. xposh Says:

    I like you the most.

  12. Garp Says:

I am glad I missed the orignial post. You saved me from propelling my laptop through the window. Congrats! Look like you had work establishing a cult following has paid off with a promotion. I hope you got extra cash to stay on the blog…if not make threats!!! Look forward to you next blog. Good move by VB and good save for us.

  13. bergman2 Says:

Has anyone at VB considered starting a member’s only forum? The blog is sometimes interesting, but I think it’s real value lies in it’s recommendation and categorization power, and in that capacity it is criminally underutilized. There’s a reason both the Oral Creampies and Favorite Scenes posts are in the top five. They’re a tremendous resource. I believe Josh listed being unable to conduct high specificity searches as one of his complaints with VB, but these blog posts could help to solve that problem. And a forum would be even more helpful, as it would allow the members to set the parameters of the discussion and those discussions would not be buried under subsequent blog posts. Personally, I would love topics which allowed members to list the “Hardest Poundings” or “Real Female Orgasms” or “Favorite Glasses Scene” or “Scenes with Pussy Farting” etc, etc, etc…

  14. Jamandrick Says:

I have to admit that when I saw the original post come through RSS, I was distressed. The blog is always my first stopping point at VB, so hearing you were laid off seemed like the most stupid business decision ever. I guess Josh’s statement that VB is known in the industry as ‘predatory’ applies to their dealings with employees as well. I’m glad you’re sticking around on the blog in some capacity, but I retain a high level of annoyance at VB over the whole matter.

  15. Breadwinner Says:

My apologies Alison, but one blog post a week sounds like a very part time job. I just looked one of the other posts over and I openly feel that VB Josh is making a mistake. I can, however, continue to wish you the very best and know that an employer hiring you full time (if that is what you are looking for) will be very fortunate.

  16. doppyman Says:

Sorry to see you go Alison. I hope you get a more lucrative full time job. Is it true that VB is replacing the position of marketing manager with the new job of “person who has to convince studios not to insist on premium status when their next contract comes up guy”?

  17. davros Says:

I wish you the best in your new job, Ali. I’m glad to hear that you will be continuing your blog, as it has become one of my favorite parts of this site.

  18. artie Says:

What are the names of the girls on the ‘new’ sign in screen?

  19. flblasted Says:

Another horrible April Fools joke? Just kidding, glad you’re staying around!

  20. Bronty Says:

    I LOVE bergman2’s suggestion.

Would it be out of bounds to start a separate, non-official and non-profit website with ‘Top’ lists that link directly to VB content?

I’ve never built a site, and I don’t have the time. But, I’d be happy to contribute to someone who can/does.

All of this only with a VB blessing of course.

  21. zarafan Says:

    Dear Alison,

What can I say, now: fatrush took the words out of my mouth!!

But I see that when I take a few days off from the Internet, my whole world goes to hell!

I’m just glad to have your blog to look forward to; it’s long been my favorite feature of the VB site. I’m not sorry I missed your previous (deleted) post, but I’ll look forward to your next one, and many many more in the future.

All the best, with hopes this is a terrific step-up for your career,

    zarafan

  22. harstad Says:

Thats too bad. Well, for us anyway. I liked reading the fun stuff you posted on and that has come to a screeching halt the past couple of weeks. Maybe we can get back to the normal type posts and away from the so called controversy over the site changes.

    Good luck to you.

  23. bellator6 Says:

Now that you’ll be doing the blog thing full time, any chance of creating a discussion board?
