Stepping away for a while ….

header 112710
Guys, I need to take a sabbatical from the blog to attend to some personal matters. I fully intend to return to my regular posting schedule, but don’t have a timetable at present. Hopefully sooner rather than later. I do want to take this opportunity to thank all in the membership for their participation with the blog, and everyone at VideoBox for allowing me the opportunity to contribute to the blog. Josh, The Content Dude, many others whose names wouldn’t be recognizable by readers of the blog, and many others whose names I don’t even know. And of course a special thank you to Alison, who created the blog for our enjoyment, invited me to join the blog, did all the heavy lifting for months on end – transforming my email submissions into posted blog articles, and taught me how to post the blog articles myself (it’s not quite as easy as the end product makes it appear).

Please treat Phil and all others whose work is presented on these pages with the same respect and courtesy you have graciously shown me. I’ll still be on the site, and will come forth if I can offer a helpful comment. I look forward to seeing everyone down the road.

Naughty College School Girls #50 Photo Galleries part 2

ncsg50
Here’s the second installment of photo galleries from Naughty College School Girls #50. Robyn Truelove and Rikki Love are featured today. See part one of the post for viewing / saving pointers. One other time saving hint. If saving the full size images directly from the thumbnail page, it’s helpful to have your mouse set to the default (save) button. In Windows XP, you can attain this setting by going to Control Panel >>> Mouse >>> Mouse Properties >>> Pointer Options. Put a checkmark in the box that says automatically move pointer to the default button in a dialog box. Can’t speak for other operating systems, but I imagine it can be accomplished. You can get a good rhythm going when saving a large number of images with this setting. Be careful though. This setting will place the mouse on the default button in all dialog boxes. Not just for saving pictures. So make sure you know what you’re clicking in other instances.

Naughty College School Girls #50 Photo Galleries part 1

ncsg50
I have four of the official photo galleries from Naughty College School Girls #50, which I’ll be presenting in two installments. Today in part 1 of the post, we have Melanie Jayne and Laylah Diamond. I’ll upload part 2 with Rikki Love and Robyn Truelove in roughly 48 hours. I’ve yet to track down the Ruby Rider photo gallery, but if I stumble upon the pics, I’ll add them to a future post. Click the thumbnails to view full size images. I prefer to right click the thumbnail and open the full size image in a new window or new tab. This method sidesteps the browser continuously loading and re-loading the thumbnails. To save images, right click the full size image and save picture as (Internet Explorer) or save image as (Firefox). The full size images can also be saved directly from the thumbnail page, by right clicking the thumbnail and selecting save target as (Internet Explorer) or save link as (Firefox).

WMV Custom Clip Update!

Hey everyone,

We are aware that many of you are having problems downloading custom clips from WMV files. Some of the common issues we’ve observed include:

1. Custom clips downloads end up downloading an entire movie
2. Windows Media Player gives an error when trying to stream a custom clip
3. Custom clip playback issues

We’ve been working tirelessly to resolve this issue for the last week, and I’m happy to report that we’ve found a solution! We’ll be pushing out this fix and re-encoding the affected files. We expect all instances of this problem to be absolved by the end of this week. If any of you experience further issues downloading custom clips from WMV after the end of this week, please report your issues to Customer Support. In the meantime, you can continue downloading custom clips using the new custom clip method and downloading your clips in H.264 format. When using the new custom clip mode, simply select either the “iPhone” or “H264″ file format. Again, I apologize for the recent issues with WMV files — we definitely hear your reports of such problems, and our main priority is to ensure that you have the best user experience on Videobox.

Cheers!
Phil

Take A Stance!

header 111510
When Ass For Days #6 was posted to VideoBox late last week, my old buddy and fellow member reframe added a comment that he could tell who was fucking Jessica Lynn by the guy’s stance in screencap 2 of the scene 4 preview. This is a talent I do not possess, but it got me wondering if many members can identify the guy by his stance, the way he positions himself relative to his co-star, how he places his hands, etc. I’ve put together ten previews of upcoming scenes from Diabolic and New Sensations. Underneath the previews, I have a list of ten male performers. See if you can match the male performers on the list to the scene previews. Use each name once, and only once. Ten points for each correct answer. For those who cannot do so (like rope), you can earn the same ten points by identifying the girl in each scene (no matching list provided). If you correctly identify both the guy and the girl in a given scene, give yourself a lucky thirteen points for that question. So theoretically, maximum score would be 130. I’m setting the passing grade at half that amount, or 65. Click on the answer key at the very bottom of post to check your result. As always, if you fail to make the grade, please devote more time for porn viewing. And pay attention to the guy’s stance!

Where’s My Audio?

Hey Videoboxers,

Phil here with a quick update about WMV files with no audio. I’m happy to report that we’ve found a solution to this issue, and all known files affected by this are currently being re-encoded. We traced this problem down to a new codec pack that we’ve installed on our encoding hosts, which started causing the issue with WMV. Fortunately, H.264 files are not affected. We expect the re-encode to be completed in the next couple of days. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for reporting these issues to Customer Support.

header 110310
Here’s the final installment of Casey Parker’s California Dreamin’. Upset that she didn’t get laid in San Francisco, Casey returns home to L.A. to pay a booty call on Charles Dera. The movie then concludes with a 52 minute behind the scenes segment, featuring additional sex footage from the Casey – Paulina James threesome, Casey and Paulina peeing on Catalina Island, Casey peeing in Napa Valley, and other fun stuff.

Update: Casey Parker’s California Dreamin’ has now been posted to the site.

Casey Parker’s California Dreamin’ part 2

header 110310
With adventures in Catalina and Malibu crossed off the bucket list, Casey heads North to Napa Valley for some wine tasting, and a possible fling with a new guy. Aubrey Addams joins the festivities. Then it’s back down to San Francisco (VideoBox stomping grounds) to meet up with Reena Sky. Check back over the weekend for the third installment of the post, where I’ll preview the final two scenes.

Casey Parker’s California Dreamin’ part 1

Trying something a little different this week, as I’ll be previewing Casey Parker’s California Dreamin’ in three installments. The previews are image heavy, and splitting up the post will allow the pages to load more easily. It’s a fun title from Shane’s World, with Casey and friends exploring various scenic locales within the State of California. Today we’ll look at scene 1 (Casey & Paulina James) and scene 2 (Casey & Devon). I’ll have the following two scene previews (Aubrey Addams / Reena Sky) in 24 – 48 hours and the final two previews (Casey / wacky behind the scenes) over the weekend. I’ll try to arrange to have the DVD uploaded shortly thereafter. And yes, as you can tell from the box cover above, it is the Collector’s Edition!

I Watch Porn All Day!

devices

I’ve recently realized that I’ve probably watched every single scene on Videobox. Three years ago that might not have seemed like much, but today—with over 53,000 scenes on Videobox, plus all the content that we’re working on-behind-the scenes— it ultimately adds up to a whole lot of porn! My name is Phil, and I’m the encoding manager here at Videobox. I’ve been working here since 2006 and, over the years, I’ve learned a lot about the world of porn, but, more specifically, I’ve learned a lot about the world of video encoding. Online video formats are ever-changing, and we’re always striving to offer all of our members the most versatile format options to meet your entertainment needs. Back in 2005, our encoding process was quite simple since we only encoded four wmv formats for every scene on Videobox, but as Flash and H.264 started to become more popular, we started encoding as many as eight formats for every scene. Today, we’ve narrowed it down to five main formats, which include three different quality options for wmv and two different quality options for mp4, which also uses the popular H.264 codec. Below is a brief chart of our video formats throughout the years.

In addition to encoding all of the content we release on Videobox, I also work with Customer Support to re-encode and fix content problems reported by our users. On that note, I want to give a big thank you to all of our users who take the time to report content issues. Our content generally goes through a pretty extensive QA process, but mistakes do slip through from time to time, and videos have sometimes been badly encoded due to poor source material or the process of re-encoding our entire catalog to accommodate new formats. If you spot a problem, shoot a message to Customer Support and we’ll have it re-encoded ASAP!

Since this is my first post, I also want to answer two frequently asked questions that I’ve noticed over the years:

Q: Why are movies with the label “Shot in HD” on the cover not encoded in HD?

A:This label on a movie cover simply means that the content was shot with HD cameras. The source content we get still comes on a regular DVD, which is 480p (standard definition). Most of the titles that are shot in HD are not offered in HD or on Blu-ray disc.

Q: Why do some scenes have bad aspect ratios?

A:Some of the DVDs we receive have anamorphic aspect ratios. These movies have extra lines of information inserted in a 4:3 signal, which the TV is then supposed to expand to fill a 16:9 screen. If a DVD player is set to 16:9 mode, but viewed on a 4:3 TV, an anamorphic movie will appear stretched vertically due to the extra horizontal lines present in the image.  However, if the movie is viewed on a 16:9 widescreen TV, the TV automatically stretches the image horizontally back to the correct aspect ratio. When we first encoded these movies, they were encoded with a 4:3 aspect ratio so that the scenes looked like they were vertically stretched. We have since fixed this issue and have been going through our catalog and repairing all the files that still have bad aspect ratios. If you find more scenes with bad aspect ratios, please report them to Customer Support.

I’m excited to start contributing more posts to the Videobox blog, and I’ll be happy to answer any questions you have regarding our videos. Thanks for reading!

Cheers!
Phil
