Hey Phil, what’s up with half the videos having no sound lately? I’ve reported a few and I have noticed a lot of comments from others about no sound on certain scenes.

also it would be easier for us to report scene or movie corrections if you guys just added a button to click on…much easier than sending an email and i think any abuse or mistakes would be minimal…

Phil, thanks for posting. Can I just second BobNope’s request that the malfunction with Girl Train be rectified and add that the same problem seems to apply to the posting of Ass Wide Open. Both films have great scenes (the Brianna Love, Sasha Grey, Belladonna scene on Girl Train was shaping up to be one of the hottest lesbian scenes I’ve ever seen) and it’s a shame not to have complete postings on such great flicks.

@Kenny: That’s a great question, and I think there should be a separate blog post just on this topic. I wont get into too much detail but basically the amount of content we are working on at any given time varies depending on what is being licensed and how much content we receive. We encode hundreds of dvds every month, and they go through several processes which include, QA, frame picks (the 6 frames you see for every scene), and categorization. Once a dvd passes through all those steps, they go into what we call a “Ready List”. In addition to the “Ready List” we have something called a “Content Queue”, which contains a list of titles to be released, this queue is built by selecting titles from the “Ready List”. The content queue is managed daily, and is designed to release a variety of studios and content genres.

Phil, I think this is more technical question for you but hope you can aster it.
If you are the person/division which deals with the encoding, how early do you know the DVDs that will be uploaded on this site.
In other words, does the content dude give you a week worth the DVDs and start encoding them? How does the whole process work? I have been a member for about 2 years so i was always curious.

@cuyote: We don’t do any color alterations to the videos we encode. Unfortunately, if the colors are bad, it’s up to the studio or the production company to fix. Feel free to submit your findings to customer support, and we can try to see what we can do. We are aware that there was a batch of titles from Cherry Box that had a pink tint to it and we did our best to get new copies from the studio, but for the most part anything dealing with color or lighting is out of our hands since we do not shoot or produce the content.

Many vids are also waaay purple or way too green, will you be fixing them too?

@rj: Absolutely! HD is definitely in the works. Part of the problem was most of the titles we license are not commercially distributed in HD, and most sites that offer HD content are also content producers who actually shoot the HD footage. We are definitely looking to bring you HD content in the very near future!

@Jack_Black: Funny that you mention that title. We recently realized that we were missing the source dvd of “Young Ripe Mellons #1″. We have placed an order and that title will be re-encoded and back on the site as soon as we receive it!

@BobNope: I will definitely look into that. I believe we had a frame rate issue with that title, which may have caused the half length problem. But we’ll be sure to get that fixed up asap. Thanks!
