“Sexy Slayer” Video, In Honor of Jeff Hanneman

Many of us here at VB admire the guitar stylings of the recently-deceased Jeff Hanneman, so much so that our content guru made a fantastic compilation he calls “Sexy Slayer.” We offer it to you all now, just to put a smile back on everyone’s faces after a sad day. We can’t help but think Jeff would have approved.

R.I. P. Jeff Hanneman of Slayer.

More Info:
Jeff Hanneman’s death yesterday morning was confirmed in a statement on the band’s Facebook page: “Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11am this morning near his Southern California home.”

“Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure.”

He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sister Kathy and his brothers Michael and Larry.

Hanneman founded Slayer with fellow guitarist Kerry King in the early 1980s. The group was among the “big four” thrash metal groups of the era alongside Megadeth, Metallica and Anthrax.

Update For SOD Subscribers

UPDATE: we missed 2 release dates, but got caught up right away. We apologize again for any inconvenience and will work hard to ensure that this dos not repeat. Thank you for your understanding, and your membership.

*****************************

Dear SOD Subscribers,

Just wanted to let you all know that due to logistical challenges with getting content from Japan to the USA, we are projecting that we will miss a couple of DVD update dates in the next week or so. We are very sorry for the inconvenience; we know how important it is to all of our members that new content hits the site on time. This is doubly true in the case of a channel upgrade, which costs an extra fee above the base membership price. Please rest assured that we have done everything in our power to prevent this from happening, but were unable to overcome the various obstacles we faced. We are also taking steps now to prevent this from ever happening again.

As soon as we have the content on our premises and encoded, we will begin posting double updates on each release day until we have caught up to the number of DVDs expected. I will also provide an update to this post as soon as we have more details for you all.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact customer support by clicking here to submit our web form.

More Soon,
Bob and The VB Content Team

Favorite VideoBox Scene? part 3

header 1118
It hardly seems possible that 4 1/2 years have transpired since part 1 of favorite VideoBox scene appeared on the blog, as well as 3 1/4 years since the part 2 follow-up. I do believe my all-time favorite VideoBox offering continues to be the scene (two scenes actually) I discussed in this article. However, with over 70,000 scenes on site, it’s quite difficult to isolate one particular favorite. In today’s post, I’ll present one of my favorite scenes which I haven’t previously discussed. I invite all within the membership to list your favorite VB scenes in a reply to the post, and I’ll link them up for easy accessibility.

Studio Spotlight: Anabolic – One on One Scenes

aurora
Wonderful to be back on the blog – my sincere thanks to Josh. I’ve been asked to submit a new article every other week. I chose to start by highlighting one of the studios that has been added to the VideoBox stables since my last posting – Anabolic. Today’s entry will focus on one-on-one scenes, and a future post will cover threesomes. I’ve embedded the flash player to showcase three dozen of my favorite Anabolic boy-girl scenes. Click the flash player to see a one minute preview of the scene, and if you like what you see, click the link above the flash player for the full scene. I will be adding scene comments in the days ahead. Let me know your opinion of the embedded scenes, and if I failed to include one of your favorites, list it in a reply to the post and I’ll link it up.

Update: Changing “Newest DVDs” to “Recommended DVDs”

I just want to add an update to my last post.

While I still feel adding “Recommended DVDs” was a good change (as seen by an increase in our download numbers), I don’t wish to alienate the many members who want to see the latest content. So we’re going to change the home page to show:

  • Recommended DVDs
  • Recently Popular DVDs
  • Latest DVDs

We’ll tweak the “recently popular” calculation to emphasize newer content. That way, “recently popular” will change a lot, while still selecting for quality.

Also, we’ve verified that many custom clips fail if you download all the way to the end of the scene. We have a fix for this problem.

All of these changes should go out soon (within a week or so).

Thanks,

Josh

Changing “Newest DVDs” to “Recommended DVDs”

As many of you noticed, last week we changed the top content bin on the home page from “Newest DVDs” to “Recommended DVDs”. I’m writing this post to give some background on this decision.

First, I want to apologize about making this change without any communication. I know we made it confusing and less convenient for many people whose usage pattern is to check out the latest content.

So why did we make this change? A couple big reasons:

We want to display more relevant content

We have an archive of over 13,000 movies. Chances are, the last 5 DVDs added to the site will not appeal to you as much as 5 that we can recommend algorithmically.

Our recommendation algorithm is pretty good (though I think it can be a lot better). For one thing, it automatically chooses videos that you haven’t seen before. With over 13,000 DVDs, no one has seen more than a fraction of our library (that’s over 2 years of continuous 24/7 porn watching).

Our metrics confirm an increase in relevancy: after one week, we’ve seen a 9% increase in downloads since we promoted recommended over newest DVDs.

The world is *gasp* running low on new porn

There’s less porn being made these days. And much of it cannot be licensed without putting the content into designated premium channels.

Historically, our value proposition has been strongly linked to “5 new DVDs a day”. Because of changes to the external market, we can’t keep adding 5 DVDs a day forever.

So we need to reframe our value proposition to be more about overall quality of content that you experience, rather than simply what’s new.

I want to thank you for your patience and for being part of this site.
So far, there’s been an increase in downloads without an increase in cancellations, so I feel like these changes are moving us in the right direction. And things should only get better by improving our recommendations.

Thank you,
Josh
